It's that time again - welcome to the fifth edition of my real estate series, but this time, we took it on the road to our future neighborhood {gotta get these kiddos out of high school first}! If you didn't catch the last HITH, feel free to catch up here.
Today's house was found during our holiday last month while visiting dear old friends at Palmetto Bluff in South Carolina Lowcountry. This one is on the market for just under $4,500,000, and looks absolutely stunning from the curb with its pale blue garage doors and two main buildings hugging a massive driveway.
And this is what you have in your backyard...all you can hear are the sounds of nature and that million dollar view of the marsh! Sign me up! Wander around at night and it's pitch black under a blanket of stars except for lovely gas lanterns on homes and the odd streetlight. It's magical for sure.

After the view, the first thing that caught my eye in this living room is that amazing fireplace screen - I'll pause for you to take it in too.
Open concept is still going strong here, and I love love the wood beams. Again, as much as I complain about farmhouse design and how prevalent it is these days, this take on it feels unique.
I love the return of a true brown neutral wood floor, as well as the wider planks. It works well with the scale of the spaces and the home in general.
The camera lens is distorting this a bit, my oh my, look at that dining table and and built in banquette! Great way to keep a large dining area in the kitchen where all the action is, and have the ability to have an amazing bay of windows.
I love a pop of color in a kitchen, but I would probably want to redo this particular color if I was living here - it reads like an indigo with a purple undertone. #paintcolorexpert I'm not trying to cast dispersions though because if I had this kitchen, I would be on cloud nine!
Look at that island! I can't lie....I'm a little distracted by the barstool legs...they look like horse legs - anybody else creeped out just a little bit. But I do like the unusual shape of the island itself. I think that's very unique and a great destination for guests to hang out meals are prepared or kids to do their homework. Check out the hood...I like the mix of metals and again the particular finish is quite unique. I love it when people take chances in design. That said I have to be honest about the tile on backsplash. While it is beautiful, but feels maybe too Spanish or Moroccan for the style of the home. It actually reminds me of pool tile we just used in an exterior pool project.
This house is meant for someone who loves to cook - with a double oven tucked into the back corner and an extra fridge situation in this butler's pantry. When we move here in our golden years, I'm going to be friends with the new home owners! If they'll cook, I'll clean.
You know you're in the South when your outdoor patio has count 'em: 1, 2, 3 ceiling fans! They're going to need it because it gets hot as a swamp down in the low country. But good news...the porch is screened in which is an absolute must since it gets so buggy, but still allows you to enjoy the stupendous view all year round.
Plenty of seating for get togethers, and a nice brick fireplace for fall and winter gatherings!
I could sit here and just watch the ebb and flow of marsh life and the river go right on by! Just a little slice of heaven...
I wouldn't mind waking up to that every day. Now, this is just my opinion, but this bedroom feels a little sad and lonely - almost like they moved in and stopped decorating? I'd love to something on that back wall behind the nightstands or over the bed.
The non-decorating continues in the on suite bathroom. I'm not a huge fan of the surround of the bathtub here but it could be the paint color that's bothering me. Notice the difference in color between the left and right sides of the photo...is it the camera settings or the lighting? Also its hard to tell if that's a rug or inlay tile that looks like a rug. I hope it's a removable rug as the pattern is, in my humble opinion, a bit distracting and it covers so much of the open floor.
Gosh, doesn't that TV just kill the vibe? I do like the curb less entry into the shower, and I'm hoping they used the same countertop material for the top of the bench rather than large tile #hellogroutcleaning.
If someone really needs a TV in this bathroom, I could see it above the towel racks on a swivel base for use in the bathtub, or while getting ready in front of the mirror. Or even a Frame TV that could be switched to artwork normally, and a TV only when necessary.
In this powder room, I have to say this isn't the wallpaper I would have chosen for this house but I love me a geometric especially in blue. I'm not sure that piece in front of the toilet is necessary, and I'm questioning the need for candle sconces above the toilet, but again I'm just calling out things I'd change if I were to buy this home.
I'm all in on this guest bedroom - just lovely!
I love the tile in the shower in this adjoining bathroom, and the curb less entry again. I also love the linear shower drain. The only thing I'm questioning again is the paint color chosen for the vanity - it reads more violet than blue or gray much like the kitchen cabinets.
I love this entry...but I do question the decor especially the rug - doesn't seem to fit style wise, and could be bigger. I would have gone with some great ceramic lamps on that console to lighten it up a bit.
Love the ceiling detail in this little alcove! This is also a lesson about fish eye lens distortion - these two chairs are clearly the same chair, but the one on the right looks almost twice as big. These distortions may not be as obvious in other spaces, but just know that these lenses make all spaces feel much larger than they truly are. Please know that and schedule an appointment to see a home you're considering buying, in person, do not trust online only.
Another great bedroom - only thing perhaps is the dresser underneath the TV feels a bit off. It could be the color, or the size, or that pesky lens distortion again. Check out the difference in color in the photos above and below.
The adjoining bathroom is perfectly fine - I have more issue here with why the peek into the bedroom we were just looking at has seemingly gray bedding. Makes me question all of the color issues I've commented on so far - is it an issue with photography edits, or true color choices that don't look completely right?
Cute little den - love the geometric rug. I would maybe add a few more accessories to liven it up, and lose whatever that is next to the TV on the media cabinet.
I love a good bunk room! Great rug, and plenty of space for grandkids and adults alike! I'm counting spaces to sleep six here - love it all!
Now if we can trust the photos, THIS is the perfect blue for the cabinetry. Love this bathroom - not crazy about the tile flooring, but that's me personally.

Simple and sweet laundry room - love the color on the walls and the hardware choices (just selected these for a whole house renovation project we're working on)!
Another peaceful bedroom - all of them consistent with each other but slightly different in finishes, window treatments, and bedding.
This house seems like the perfect choice for grandparents looking for the perfect retirement home, with plenty of space for all of their children and grandchildren to stay frequently.
I had to end on this incredible view again! This community is very walkable, and it's more common to see golf carts and bicycles here with the residents rather than cars. Each community like this is very self-contained - they each have their own rec center, coffee shops, things to do. Here in Moreland there are cool activities like paddle boarding and a bowling alley.
