The owners of the Bellaire House Project noticed a leak in their downstairs ceiling that revealed an issue in their upstairs primary bathroom. The clients were already working with a contractor on the problem and the bathroom had been taken down to the studs. Typically the design work is done before construction begins but alas these things happen in life unfortunately. Let's start today's post showing you what the bathroom looked like before...dated and drab...

and the after...

and another BEFORE photo from a different vantage point...

and drumroll please, the after...

I know! It doesn't even look like the same bathroom but it is indeed and that's a great thing!
You know me, I'm always one to try and make lemonade when life hands you lemons. I reassured my clients that while this reno was unexpected there were so many things we could do to improve the space. The first thing we set about was increasing the shower space from t-tiny to Texas T-size. Now our clients have a beautiful shower built for two (or three, as our client welcomed their first child as the project was wrapping up).

Two shower heads make showering more of an experience but quite functional too with the hand held option making it easy to shower off toddlers and pets too. The corner bench can hold extra product outside the shower niche but is also handy or should I say a foot friendly place to perch whilst shaving.

In increasing the shower size, the tub was able to be repositioned in the room. The old alcove tub was replaced with a gorgeous soaking tub.

Just as we did in the shower area, we added functionality with a hand shower at the soaking tub. Its perfect for washing littles, and for washing hair during a long soak or the last bit of bubbles from a bubble bath away. Yes please!

For the main bathroom flooring, we selected a limestone tile floor with a varied palette of warm grey mixed with a a silvery base with deeper marbling that is in a word, magnificent! Laid in a herringbone pattern on the floor, it directs one in and right to the soaking tub to retreat from the outside world.

If you remember the before photo, there were a lot of doors in this t-tiny space so we added a pocket door on the closet closest to the entry door plus a custom frosted sliding door on the toilet room stained to match the custom vanity.

Speaking of the custom vanity, let's take a look at the beautiful detail,

not to mention to gorgeous hardware...

I love drawers over doors for storage space but doors under sinks allow for easy access in the case of any plumbing issue like a clogged drain.

Another thing I love... nickel finishes for plumbing fixtures. In my experience, I've found it lasts longer than other options but also it's timeless and classic (say no to trendy y'all).
No matter what finish you use, be cognizant of cleaning materials you use based on the manufacturers recommendations and also beware of dental cleaning products as these can potentially hurt or stain the product finish. A little care and proper maintenance goes a long way in taking care of your home.

We used metal + lucite wall sconces flanking dual mirrors also in a nickel finish. These are hung perfectly at a height that corresponds to eye level for our clients. We are always thinking and planning ahead y'all.

We carried the smart design into both his and hers closets as well...

with ample drawer storage...

as well as for hanging items...

plus we didn't forget about shoe storage...

Lastly, let me remind you where we started...

and where we finished. In keeping with the goals of our clients to design a bathroom as beautiful as it is functional, it was also our intention to design for them a serene retreat from the hustle and bustle of their busy professional lives. Mission accomplished.
