Project
Modern Bedroom Retreat {Houston}
GALLERY
We loved working on this primary bedroom project with our clients who loved the concept of a casual and relaxed modern retreat. Our goal was to design a space that felt like walking into a luxury resort and that would hold up to real life with kids and two sweet pups. I'm happy to report that our client shared that her husband loves this room so much that after dinner he will, more often that not, adjourn here to their new bedroom refuge to relax.

With this Texas sized room, we were able to follow one of my favorite sayings: "Go big or stay home." We opted for custom nightstands with a larger than normal footprint, plus different storage options on opposite sides of the bed (multiple drawers for out of sight storage versus one drawer and an open shelf {great for bibliophiles}). The asymmetrical wall shelving gave them both areas to showcase photos and items that they love, and adds to the overall laid-back vibe of the room. To bring in the blues and leathery caramel colors we used throughout the house, we chose this beautiful vintage looking rug to ground the space, and add to the layered, luxurious retreat we were going for. These clients wanted to walk into their bedroom feeling like they were entering a luxury hotel room, and they now tell me it's their favorite room of the house!

Modern Traditional Bathroom {Houston}
GALLERY
While working on this client's primary bedroom project we enveloped their primary bathroom ensuite as well, carrying the feeling of relaxed elegance. While an all marble bathroom can sometimes feel cold and gray, We selected the perfect wall color that worked to both brighten and lighten the space then styled the room to perfection with elevated accents and accessories.

Kids Game Room Lounge {Houston}
GALLERY
This fun mixed use room morphs from a kids' hang out spot to a guest room in the blink of an eye. Take a look around and see if you can guess how? If you say I spy the murphy bed behind the pair of gorgeous leather chairs then you win the prize!

Modern Traditional Kitchen {West U}
GALLERY
We updated this West University kitchen a few years ago by replacing the outdated light box over the island with the perfect pendants, swapping the tired granite countertops with Caesarstone, and adding interest with classic subway tiles arranged in a herringbone pattern. Recently we circled back again to update the cabinet doors to a more modern front, then added all new hardware and fantastic paint colors for a wow factor. These small, thoughtful details add up to a space that feels fresh, fun, and beautifully finished.

Whole House Tartan Project {Houston}
GALLERY
The owners of this home had plenty of pieces they loved, but no vision for pulling them together for a cohesive design. In their words, their home decor had an "identity crisis." Their home, the Whole House Project, has become our shining example of what can be accomplished through intuitive listening and a collaborative process. We took a mismatched collection of belongings and transformed it to a perfect reflection of the client's personality and lifestyle. Custom upholstery, case goods, and the client's own hand-selected artwork were combined for a space that is equal parts curated, cohesive and oh so comfortable.

Chic Work from Home Office {Houston}
GALLERY
We were asked by these repeat clients to help make final selections to pull their home office together. Luckily we completed this project just before crazy corona shut the world down. This is definitely a home office we would love to be quarantined in.
Project
Transitional Bedroom Retreat {Houston}
GALLERY
We met this sweet young couple when they were expecting their first baby and helped them remodel their master bathroom. They reached out to work with us again shortly before their new baby turned one to update several rooms in their home including their master bedroom. Look for more details on the blog soon but until then enjoy some of our favorite views of this colorful but tranquil master bedroom...a perfect retreat for young new parents.

Whole House Durness Project {Houston}
GALLERY
We have had the honor of working with the clients at the Durness Way Project for several years as we have updated their home in phases. We began with their more casual living room before eventually transforming their entire downstairs. As their lifestyle changed to include two children in college—and, consequently, two tuitions—our approach transitioned with it. Our focus shifted to creating the most impact within their budget. Rather than completely renovating the kitchen, we opted to perform a mini-facelift. We came up with creative ways to transform the space, like new lighting, window treatments, and a wall color to tie together their hard surface selections. We accessorized with colorful accents and sourced new dining chairs to create a fun, updated space where they can live their day-to-day and enjoy school breaks as a family.
Project
Kids Bathroom Renovation {West U}
GALLERY
We updated this secondary bathroom shared by a band of brothers who requested a bigger shower area. We heeded their request and removed the bathtub which allowed for a large walk in shower with a new glass enclosure and tall shower niche for their large bottles of soaps and shampoos. Selections included new wall and floor tile, all new fixtures and finishes including the perfect paint palette for cabinets, walls, and ceiling.

Modern Transitional Bathroom {Houston}
GALLERY
The owners of the Glenmont House noticed a leak in their downstairs ceiling that revealed an issue in their upstairs bathroom. Before we began our work, the bathroom had been taken down to the studs. Our selections included a magnificent herringbone tile floor, a custom vanity and cabinets, a new soaking tub, and a shower built for two (or three, as our client welcomed their first child as the project was wrapping up). We were thrilled to be called back to work on their master bedroom, dining room, and downstairs study. Stay tuned for images of those completed spaces.
Project
Whole House Teas Project {Houston}
GALLERY
The Teas Project home sustained major damage during Hurricane Harvey and the entire downstairs area needed a full renovation as a result. We enlarged the opening between the family room and kitchen, making room for a larger kitchen island. Bigger is always better, especially in Texas y'all!

Modern Traditional Living Room {West U}
GALLERY
This modern traditional living room with coastal vibes has continued to evolve over the years as the children in the house grow. We updated the furniture and arrangement from two sofas (one a sectional) to two longer slipcovered stunners, replete with performance fabrics, and added two swivel chairs for more seating space. It's definitely a place we'd love to hang out in!

Whole House Jason Project {Houston}
GALLERY
This home flooded during Hurricane Harvey, and we were happy to help them update and improve their home as we renovated the entire space. For this family who loves to cook and entertain, the most important aspect of the design was the kitchen. We were able to rethink the layout to provide more space and functionality so that they could host with ease. We also made hard finish selections, from tile to window coverings; purchased and installed furniture; and styled accessories. It was truly a comprehensive renovation, and we were honored to be part of it.
Project
Traditional Primary Bedroom {Houston}
GALLERY
This design project was a a dreamy delight to develop for a couple with two young kids. Our task was to create a sanctuary for them to relax and unwind in after a long day with littles. The only glitch in our giddy up was the window placement which we worked around with a custom height headboard. The bed itself got the royal treatment with layered linen bedding and ruffles galore, topped off with a custom monogrammed lumbar pillow. We hung the client's cherished family artwork, all painted by her uber talented grandfather, on the walls to surround all new selections of bedroom furniture and accessories. The result is an elegant romantic traditional bedroom retreat for two!

Whole House Mildred Project {Houston}
GALLERY
Another survivor story from Hurricane Harvey, this client project consisted of overhauling a flooded downstairs area. We were able to select new furniture and soft goods, marrying them with items our clients were able to salvage before the water damaged them beyond repair. Once the restoration was complete, we delivered and installed everything to its rightful home, down to hanging our client's treasured collection of art throughout the space in ways that our client reported made her see her art in a new way.
Project
Hip Navy Powder Room {West U}
GALLERY
This powder room holds a very special place in my heart as it was my first official design project. My client wanted to update her powder room with something fun and feminine and I think we nailed it! We chose practical materials such as wood look tile floors (easy to clean) especially helpful in a house with young boys. My client knew she wanted wallpaper but again because her kids were young we decided to use subway tile for the lower wall and wallpaper on the top portion of the wall (boy moms you know why!). Overall the mix of patterns, colors, and finishes is truly a winning combination.
Project
Savannah Inspired Garden {West U}
GALLERY
This transformation was our first foray into exterior design. We started with a sad outdoor space and channeled classic Savannah gardens with pea gravel paths that divide four tiny boxwood garden plots, each individually planted (one even with vegetables!) and intersecting with a bubbling fountain as the focal point.
Project
Modern Transitional Kitchen {Houston}
GALLERY
We completely transformed this once drab kitchen into a stunning showplace for our clients who love to cook and entertain. We designed this light filled space to be equally as functional as it is beautiful with clean modern lines and finishes inspired by Scandinavian and Asian inspired design influences or what our client dubbed "Scan-Asian" inspired. You might be wondering what does that even mean? Our translation: Minimal, clean, light on clutter, with modern lines, an earthy neutral palette and finishes that work together in harmony to create flow within a space. It's also about bringing nature inside with lots of natural light, where everything has its place and {most of the time} every thing is neatly in its place or hidden in plain sight....bringing all of these elements together to create a place of peace, both on the eyes and in the soul of those who live and utilize the space.

Maintaining a clean kitchen and hiding appliances were big priorities for this owner, so we built not one, but two appliance garages on either side of the stove. The coffeemaker, rice cooker, microwave, and juicer all hide behind these doors, but are easily accessible for every day use. The dishwasher and refrigerator were both hidden away behind panels that blend in amongst other cabinets to really streamline all sides of this kitchen.

During our initial concept phase, we work with our clients to see how they use their current kitchen and then work to create better functionality including any special storage that would make cooking routines easier or improved. For example, we built a little custom nook for a paper towel roll at hand level in the island (to free up prep space) and used super deep bottom drawers for bottled oils and sauce storage for easy access during meal prepping time. Our client also wanted to keep the stove area open and airy, and the appliance garages gave us the leeway to keep the entire stove area really minimal and clean. We brought the countertop material right up the wall and ended it with a thin shelf that fell in line with the hood as a natural break point.

The amazing waterfall island, the stained flat front drawers paired with the simplicity of the drawer pulls, and the minimal number of materials really allows every element to shine in this kitchen. I truly think enjoying his favorite culinary pursuits in this space will improve his every day life, and this is exactly why we do what we do!
