Hi friends! I’m starting to devote more time to writing here, and get back to this blogging platform that I indulged in and loved for so many years before I took a break to dedicate to growing my business. I thought I’d start back with a few fun things about me that you may not know!
I am a vampire exerciser. I am definitely a morning person - up by 4:00 AM most days, and ready to hit the ground running! Well, it's always coffee first, then run. If I don't exercise first thing, I know I won't do it later in the day. I've tried different things over the years...running, swimming, biking, kickboxing...you name it, I'll give it a shot. These days I alternate running 3 or 4 days a week with Pilates. Running is like therapy for me...it's a challenge while I'm doing it but afterwards I feel great. I fell in love with Pilates before it was a fad twenty plus years ago. If you're looking to strengthen, tone, and lengthen your muscles, look no further than Pilates. Highly recommend.
Disco is my jam. I love most music....country, classical, tunes from the 40's (think Sinatra) to today's top tunes. As my sweet friend Madi pointed out, I even know all the words to Lizzo's "Feeling Good as Hell" but I gotta tell you my eyes light up when I hear music from the 70's. I have jokingly nicknamed our early morning Pilates class "Disco Karaoke Pilates" much to the chagrin of our instructor. He's very sweet and keeps the tunes rocking to those oldies but goodies as we (try to) sing (and dance) as we do Pilates #multitaskingmama It's true...I love singing and dancing - I can’t help it. When my kids complain about my music, I try to remind them that happy people sing and to never ever ask someone to stop singing. I swear, I would win any round of ‘Name That Tune’ for songs from the 70's and 80's if that was still a show! I even have a disco ball hanging from the rear view mirror of my car. That’s how you know I’m serious about my disco.
I collect landscape art of coastal marsh scenes. I’m originally from Savannah, Georgia, and I love how these art pieces remind me of my childhood home. Plus, I can always find my favorite blue and green hues in these art pieces! If you don't know what a coastal marsh scene looks like, check out a sneak peek of my new studio office space.
I’m an avid runner. I didn't start running until my late 20's but I hope I never stop. I used to like doing 1/2 marathons until I did the Army 10-miler in Washington DC a few years ago. Now that's my new favorite race length. Long enough to be a challenge and 5k shorter. Ha! I still have a full marathon on my bucket list to complete. I battled an injury the last time I trained for the full and it was beyond disappointing I have to tell you. Its definitely a selfish ask for my family because of the training involved, but one day, God willing, I'll be able to dedicate more time to the training process. It's on my bucket list to complete one and I'm a firm believer in "believe to receive" and I feel like it will happen!
I’m turning 50 this year! I wanted to celebrate with a disco karaoke dance party (big surprise right?) but we’ll get to do that once we’re through this lock down - maybe for 51 or 52. Friends, you've been warned...get those singing voices ready and study your song lyrics. I am so grateful for every day God gives me here on earth, and I’m excited to celebrate with everyone I love. I'm gonna sing until my voice gives out and "boogie 'til I just can't boogie no more!"
That's five things about me...what is something that your clients or friends may not know about you? Do tell in the comments below. Inquiring minds want to know!
